Made from state-of-the-art carbon fiber composite materials, Moonwave, a Gunboat 60 catamaran, was designed with excellent sailing performance and luxurious accommodations in mind. She sails on two hulls with hardly any heel, which is important for the comfort and safety of her passengers.
At the same time, she’s capable of blistering speeds, because she has no heavy lead keel, very little wetted surface area (aka drag) and a powerful sail plan. She’s fast and fun in a breeze, but she also makes good time when the wind is light and others have to run the engine.
oonwave comfortably accommodates up to eight guests while covering up to 300 nautical miles per day under sail. Yet, at 69 feet of overall length she still is compact enough to fit into most yacht harbors and her shallow draft allows her to slip into quiet coves and anchorages that would be off limits for keelboats of her size.
If that sounds amazing, wait until you discover the “invisible” and largely inaudible technology of Moonwave. She is equipped with a custom plug-in hybrid propulsion system that silently powers two electric drives and all the appliances and electronics on board. While sailing, the batteries are being recharged through re-generation, so the generator, if needed at all, only runs for very short periods. This means her state-of-the-art technologies maximize the guest’s enjoyment while minimizing the boat’s impact on the environment.
